Hi, my name is Café Papi…. just kidding it’s Jacob. I’m just your average fast-talking, coffee/cappuccino/cortado-drinking, son of a gun. I’ve been drinking coffee since I was just a bean. Back in the day I would throw back those Starbucks drinks that you buy at gas stations or gas station coffee. I would dump disgusting amounts of gas station sugar and milk into them and then I would be the happiest caffeinated child that I could be.
I only seriously started drinking coffee about 3 years ago when I moved to Jacksonville, FL. The coffee scene was starting to get popping and I wanted to drink coffee all the time all day every day (and night if any shops were open). Not only did I fall more in love with coffee, I fell in love with the culture. I was drawn to the aesthetic and the look of different cafes, the music that they played in the shop, the fashion that not only the baristas rep, but also the fashion of the people who come through the doors.
One day I was I was sitting at one of the local shops, and I had a chance to sit and down for a couple of cappuccinos with a Jax influencer. He told me “You should start a coffee page for Jax. You obviously have a passion for it, no one’s done it yet. You need to do it before someone else does it.”
He gave me some tips on how to get started, and ever since then, I’ve been off and running. Running to every shop in my area, slowly but surely over-caffeinating myself and pushing my heart to the limit.
I’ve had the opportunity to meet some incredible people in my coffee travels: doctors, lawyers, professional football Players, NFL coaches, professional musicians, etc. I’ve also had the opportunity to form cool relationships with the baristas and owners of the coffee shops I get to visit. No doubt I’ll get to meet a boatload of more awesome Caffiends (a name I made up when I “creatively” smashed together the words caffeine and fiends) throughout the rest of the coffee shop-hopping travels that I shall inevitably go on.
